It's just me's avatar

I work on retail, and almost daily I need to get up at 5 so I can go to work on time. One time I was sweeping near the entrance and I head some men say "why can't they open earlier?!? They're losing money"

I was shocked. It was 9:30, we open at 10. I get to leave work at 8:35 usually often missing the bus and having to wait for 40 more minutes to go home. By the time I'm home it's 10pm, im tired, I need to shower, eat and study. But all I am at the end of the day is money, I'm an object that man wants to move around so he can have more convenience

I always move stuff so cleaning ladies can do their job easier, I keep doors open so delivery guys don't trip over, change my path so costumers don't feel uncomfortable

Yet all I am is money

humanity would quite literally collapse without the people society looks down on the most, so the least we owe one another is dignity and empathy smh

also, this was such a sobering read. thanks for putting it into words so beautifully<3
